Cobra operates two upscale restaurants in Antwerp, each fitted with Retrosun awnings. At their Cobra House location, the goal was clear: a terrace that could welcome guests in every season with style. The scissor arm construction spans the full dining area, mounted on a freestanding metal structure independent of the protected heritage facade.
The characteristic black scissor arms are the defining visual element of this installation, a deliberate design choice that turns the technical structure into an architectural feature. Waterproof Dickson Max fabric with fabric support ensures full rain protection across the large span, while integrated heaters, floor heating and side panels extend use through every season. The bold geometry and deep projection are characteristic of the Retrosun Classic.
Built entirely to measure, this installation required a technical approach that goes well beyond standard awning work. The combination of a large freestanding span, protected facade mounting, 100% weatherproof is a challenge that demands both precision engineering and long experience.
